Senior managers and HR professionals must move away from the oft quoted
"People are our most valuable asset" statement to a more pragmatic and quantitive way of looking at the people within their enterprise.
New work is being done in the area of revitalising the concept of human asset accounting. The phrase human capital management is also being used to describe those working with people to enable the enterprise to reach its goals and targets. HR professionals need to find a middle way between platitudes and theories to realistically evaluate and invest in their people.
