Aim:

With change as the backdrop and core theme, delegates will focus on and apply several techniques of influencing as a means of improving their impact and effectiveness within their organizations.

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the dynamics of influencing and how to overcome the pressures that get in the way of successful influencing
  • Define their preferred influencing style
  • Define assertiveness and state ways of using assertiveness to achieve results
  • Develop a strategy to expand their ‘Sphere of Influence’
  • Create a personal negotiation strategy, tailored for individual circumstances and scenarios
  • Project the right impression on order to enhance their chances of successful influencing
  • State how to avoid coercion, but focus on apply positive pressure to achieve a required outcome
  • Identify own fears and weaknesses and describe strategies for overcoming these in the context of successful influencing

Methods:

The one day workshop will be highly participative and will draw upon delegates’ experience of workplace scenarios where influencing skills could have been used to good effect. Delegates will be able to practice various techniques of influencing through role play, with tutor guidance and feedback.
