Performance Review

It’s that time of year again – the dreaded appraisal! Yes, you know it’s important to give feedback to your team as individuals and yes, you accept that there is a process that needs to be followed. But, there are so many other priorities that conflict and only so much time in a busy working week to apply your energy. So, the appraisal is put on hold – it’ll get done, eventually – and no one’s getting hurt. Does this resonate with you? You know it’s wrong, but performance reviews do tend to be given a low priority. Time management might be an issue – but if you feel that you need a refresher on the performance review process and a reminder of its importance to the one being appraised, to you the appraiser, and your organisation – then this is an essential workshop for you.

Aim:

To explore and put structure on the performance review process, to identify how to apply it effectively and enhance team efficiency through the provision of documented feedback and development planning

Objectives:

At the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:

  • State the key building blocks of an effective performance review process
  • Deliver the key requirements of each stage
  • Plan effective performance reviews, including the preparation of supporting documentation
  •  Identify the key common pitfalls at each stage of the performance review process and state ways of avoiding them
  • Conduct a performance review, including working with an appraisee to identify development needs

Methods:

This is a highly participative workshop utilising tutor input, practical exercises, including the conduct of a simulated performance review using supporting documentation, and group discussion.

Duration:

One day workshop
