Managing the Poor Performer

Poor performance in the workplace presents itself in a number of different ways and as result of many different reasons. Poor performance is draining. Poor performance is costly.  But, it is all too often ignored on the basis that dealing with it could cause even more pain!

  • Are you aware of poor performance in your organisation? Are you uncertain about the best way to deal with this?
  • Would you like to develop the skills and the confidence to deal with poor performers?
  • Are you prepared to explore and analyse the reasons for poor performance in your organisation?
  • Do you know how to keep the law on your side and avoid costly employment tribunals?

Exploring the reasons for poor performance can be uncomfortable, but it is a necessary process in order to eradicate it, and to prevent it reoccurring. This workshop will provide a platform for you to explore the issues, to analyse reasons, develop and practice tools for deal with, and create policies and strategies to ensure that poor performance will not be a recurring issue for your organisation.

Aim:

To provide a forum for exploring the issue of the ‘poor performer’, including the reasons for poor performance and ways of dealing with it.

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:

  • Identify poor performance in all its guises
  • Establish the reason(s) for poor performance and instigate measures to prevent it
  • Manage the performance interview (and its sensitivities)
  • Create an action plan to improve individual performance
  • Monitor individual performance and prevent recurrence
  • State the key Employment Law considerations and identify potential pitfalls

Methods:
