Effective Meetings

Meetings are often considered to be a waste of time, even a way of avoiding work. Why is this? Some of the answers are obvious: meetings can be unstructured, with discussions going round in circles and no defined or documented decision being made; they can lack discipline and direction, with dominant personalities holding centre stage and quieter, perhaps more informed individuals unable to contribute; meetings are not supported by documentation – an agenda for example, and minutes. Does this resonate with you? If so, this workshop will provide you with all the structure and tools you need to ensure that your meetings have purpose and achieve tangible business objectives.

Aim:

To provide information and techniques to help delegates lead and participate in meetings more effectively and improve the quality of the consultation, information exchange and decision making processes that take place within the meeting environment.

Objectives:

At the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the benefits of thorough planning and preparation
  • Summarise the key components of successful meetings
  • Identify individual and group behaviours and understand the importance of non verbal communication
  • Utilise new skills and techniques to participate in and lead more effective meetings in the future

Methods:

The workshop will be highly interactive with a combination of tutor input, group discussions and practical exercises.

Duration:

One day workshop
