Brenda Roper - Senior Consultant
Brenda has had a varied career in HR which has included being Head of HR in a prison establishment followed by seven years as a Senior Advisor in Acas. During the ‘Acas years’ she was responsible for providing collective conciliation services to Sussex and for providing consultancy support to organisations with complex employee relations problems. In addition she spent 18 months seconded to provide DTI/ACAS interface whilst the Religion or Belief and Sexual Orientation Regulations were developed and enacted, a role for which she was nominated for a Wainwright Trust award for services to equality.
Brenda has a particular interest in employee relations and employee engagement and has considerable experience in both developing employee councils and in training line managers in day to day employee relations issues such as managing absence.
In addition, Brenda has particular expertise in ‘safer recruitment’ and other safeguarding issues where organisations have a responsibility to ensure that those who work with children and / or vulnerable adults do not pose a threat to those for whom they care.
Brenda is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has an MBA from the University of Portsmouth Business School thus ensuring her focus is on the business needs of the organisation and how HR can support those needs.
